Wish I could help but have no idea especially if you have checked him inside and out.  Odd, very odd.  Any chance there is some type of bug, mtick, on him?  Lay him down, gat a fine toothed comb and go through his fur so you can see down to the skin.  Maybe try looking for some bug or bite?
Unless there is something draining inside.  Odd.
Glad you have a Vet appt.  did you ask them to call you if they had an opening?
Please keep us updated.  I would like to know what you find out.

yes just one side of his jaw will swell up and and go rock hard causing some discomfort and pain id then massage it for him and it would go back to normal an he`d be his happy self again.. its happened on 3 different occasions the first time it happened i thought it was a bee sting or something like that didnt worry too much, but its happened twice this week ive checked him throughly and cant find a problem and the earliest i can get him seen too by a vet is monday

I have absolutely idea,if you are describing this correctly. Mis jaw swells then goes back to normal?  Have you consulted a Vet?  Have you given inside his mouth a good inspection?  Checked in the aar, under the jaw, on his head for any swelling or tender spots?
