I know this is an old post, but I just have to add my feelings on this.
First, NEVER, NEVER kick a dog, that is horrid, you could damage their insides, even if it is a "gentle" kick. No animal should be abused like that.
Second, NO, it is NOT safe to give a human strength drug to an animal, the vet needs to be called and then he/she will give the animal a drug that is suited for them if warranted.
Third, be a responsible pet owner, if you don't plan on breeding, have your pet spayed (or neutered if a male) as soon as they are old enough to handle the surgery, this will prevent things like this from happening in the future.
I don't mean to sound nasty, but hey, animals have feelings too, and can get hurt internally from things like kicking, they don't deserve that type of treatment.
Just future FYI: Nothing unties them. The male's penis distorts completely and literally has a mass LOCKING him there. It's like a bulb; I'm sure you can find photos online of this. Anyway, this is WHY they get STUCK. He cannot just pull out afterward.
Secondly, there is a Plan B for dogs if this is a breeding dog (which I am assuming is NOT, considering you're not aware of what actually happens during the tie; it wasn't on your agenda, to breed). There's several issues with THAT (what state you live in, for example, regarding availability).
Truly best to get her fixed asap. The closer you wait till those pups are born (which ONLY takes 63 days or so), the more difficult it will be to utilize a Plan B for dogs or getting her spayed. See what your local Humane Society has in the way of help. If you're in or near a city, MANY Vets have spay/neuter drives; some take waivers (Friends of Animals was my savior because I had a thing for adopting entire litters of kittens for my barn way back when); sometimes, the local shelter will have special circumstance Vets who visit them just for the sole purpose of fixing all the animals that come into the place. For a Donation, their Vet just might fit you in. If you are out in the country, call a horse or cattle Vet (or someone who has a farm full of animals for directions where to go; nearly everyone who has horses n cattle has either a dog or cat for their barn/herd). You'd be surprised just how helpful people can be.
Good Luck!
Welcome...3-4 minutes is plenty of time.....However, whether the pregnancy occured or not, you can get her spayed right now (Before the babies develop) & take care of ALL of this.....
There are many low cost spay/neuter clinics available to you....Call your local Human Society or SPCA for information on clinics.....
There is NO reason to risk this every time she goes into heat! The world does not need any more unwanted dogs...Thrust me!
Please, have her spayed ASAP....Start calling tomorrow! Karla
Absolutely not!!!
The best thing you can do is get them fixed.
You tried to kick them apart? If they were tied, that could cause major damage to those dogs.
No! Don't give her plan b. It could be really dangerous. Talk to your vet about options if she is pregnant. You should also get the male neutered and the female spayed so no more accidents can happen.
Hopefully you got lucky this time!
