I send my sympathy, a sympathy truly felt as I have owned a number of dogs over the years and still remember and miss those gone even 25 years. I'm not forecasting a long grieving and hope that passes as soon as possible, but memories will last.
My experience with Labradors is with the Black, Yellow, and Chocolate - also with and current a Labradoodle a "designer" mix of Standard Black Poodle and Black Lab (it is black, of course, and has the no-shed hair like a Poodle). That said I have found the Chocolate to be the friendliness and cuddly, but still big and strong.
All here who read of experience will feel your loss - I think all of us who post on the Community are dog/animal loving people..
Thanks to the response Jerry, unfortunately he did suffer badly in the end, it was a seven year old labrador, he was quite healthy looking, playful and friendly like all labs, he left us in grief, his condition started deteriorating only six hours before his death, otherwise he was normal before, deworming was adviced by our doctor to be done for every three months, my dog had a bad habit of eating things thrown by roadside also used to lick and bite on stones, was very stubborn we always had to leash him to avoid this habbit of his but as I told u he was very strong it used to bcome difficult for us to pull him, I did deworm him since last month but I think we got late, before that had dewormed him 5 mnths back, also he used to drink lots of water, even at his last stage he was feeling thirsty and kept on asking for water, I know we got late but we still feel the doctors didnt give their 100% they didnt rush wid things, the clinic where he was treated was not that close, except one hospital in Mumbai no private clinics allow dogs to be admitted, unlike U. S. A I feel medical help for animlas are not that advanced, here it is only about money.
The doctor who was treating him lived in the same building where the clinic was she cud have atleast opened the clinic by herself and made the set up ready although she knew the situation & we are coming with our dog, she only showed up when we reached there wasting anoder 5-10 mins.I know now nothing is going to bring him back but the guilt inside me will not go. Its going to be very difficult for me to get over it. I will miss him always.
A severe Hookworm infestation CAN cause sudden death in a dog!!! To avoid Worm infestations, monthly oral medications are given to kill parasites, all combined in Heartworm pills purchased from you Vet.....
It doesn't sound like your doctor was at fault......I'm sorry for your loss, Karla
From what you tell us already I read you went to heroic measures to save your dog, yet it somehow had problems I will guess could have been prevented. I know next to nothing about India and any specific health threats - I mentioned the main ones that are common to the USA and will guess they or something similar are relevant in your country.
Hope we can all learn something to help us going forward, and sorry about the loss of your dog - hope it didn't suffer badly.
