If a patient complains of a sudden cough with gag reflex along with decreased hearing and ringing in the ears, vocal chord paralysis, laryngitis, night sweats. (Patient has a history and previous diagnosis of Smouldering Multiple Myeloma High risk.)
CT Scan with contrast reveals a 6 mm Basilar Artery Aneurysm, forward to Neurosurgeon, NS says no link between present symptoms and aneurysm. Forward to ENT. ENT say use Flonaise, irritants/allergens most likely cause of present symptoms.
Besides the aneurysm, the radiologist also noted on CT scan report "There is enhancing tissue at the roof of the nasopharynx which extends symmetrically across the
midline. There is enhancing tissue at the tongue base, extending symmetrically across the midline,
measuring 0.5 cm in thickness."
Is it me, or shouldnt this be cause for a little more examination from the doctors and how can they possibly miss this on the CT? Couldnt this be the cause of his present symptoms?
