Ear troubles

For the past year I have been experiencing a very odd type of ear problem. It starts as a muffled ear, or throbbing in my right ear. The odd part about it is that when this is happening, apart from the throbbing and muffling, I notice that I hear a different pitch, about half a tone lower than my left ear. I can tell this by putting a telephone up to my ear and comparing the tones.

This whole symptom happens to me frequently, like every other day or every couple of days, sometimes I wake up with it, sometimes it onsets during the day and is gone by night, or the next day. Sometimes it lasts for days.

I have had doctors check my ears out and they see no ruptured eardrums or sign of infection, but that is as far as I have gone.

Does this resemble anything that anyone can relate to or has any knowledge about?

Thanks.

See an ENT; sound slike you might have a mild loss.  If so, in many cases it goes away on its own.  Hearing loss is treated as an emergency, that is the protocol in the US.

If no cause can be found; check my Journal entry - my hearing loss was caused by an allergy; but your loss isn't near as bad.

There are many ear problems as well as non-ear problems this could be.  If a general practitioner can not find anything then a trip to an ENT Dr would be the next step.

Hi...I have ear issues myself related to a thyroid issue...have u looked into that route?..if it  is an autoimmune issue a reg TSH test may show "normal" when u indeed have an issue...ask to have ur Free T3, Free T4, TPO antibodies to see if u have an issue...of course TSH will also need to be done as well.......I pray u find the cause.

Good luck
