3 months ago I had surgery to remove enlarged lymph nodes and l a vagal schwannoma (nerve sheath tumor of the vagus nerve) from my neck. Damage to the nerve has caused my left vocal chord to be paralyzed and sitting quite far away from the centerline where the two vocal chords should meet. So I have a very breathy whisper in place of what my voice used to be.
I'm scheduled to get fillers injected to push the paralyzed chord closer, thus making it possible for the right chord to interact. It will be done under anesthesia. My doctor explained all this very well to me,but I'd like to hear others' experiences.
If you've had this procedure done to correct vocal chord paralysis, what improvement did you achieve?
