Hi, possibly it is sleep apnoea syndrome. Usually, muscle tone of the body ordinarily relaxes during sleep, and since, at the level of the throat, the human airway is composed of walls of soft tissue, which can collapse during sleep and causes apnoea.
Clinically remarkable levels of sleep apnea are considered as 5 or more events of any type (central or obstuctive) per hour of sleep time. Polysomnography is used for diagnosis.
