chronic

For the better part of a year, I have had what is being called eczema( b/c pcp is really unsure) in my ears. It is nearly all the way to eardrum. My ears constantly itch, burn and drain. I have many other symptoms going on that they can't seem to diagnose. I have seen ENT, he just used a vac and told me to use olive oil. No relief there. My question is, could this be related to Lupus? I have many symptoms, but ANA was neg. Please help

Eczematous otitis externa is a troublesome problem that sometimes responds to topical corticosteroid treatment.  There are also other medications such as Elidel that have been tried.  One newer agent is called Dermotic--it is actually a corticosteroid in an oil base.

The only thing I know that clears eczema or dermatitis is cortisone.   I also notice that chlorinated water irritates my eczema on my legs so I installed a water filter.  And 2 years ago... maybe due to menopause ? ... I stopped wearing most earrings that were less than 18K Gold but even some of those have nickel - which I've found I'm allergic to.  It doesn't cause eczema but it itches my face, neck and throat like crazy!
good luck.. hope something helps!
