My daughter just started a swimming class in College.  Today she woke up with facial numbness on 1 side.  She went to a physician who did a thorough checkup and could not find anything wrong.  She said if it continued  she would order an MRI.  Her teeth are fine, ears and throat are okay.  The Physician said she did not have meningitis or Bells Palsy.    Can you help.

This would be unusual, though a severe viral infection could affect the fifth cranial nerve (trigeminal) that supplies sensation to the face.  You really need a full examination and possible imaging to rule out another cause, though.  See an ENT for a full exam.
