I was told that meniere's is like irritable bowel syndrome....you have something but doctors don't know what....look at what u were doing the day before onset on symptoms. Are u a tooth grinder.....tmj can give all these symptoms....also do u have crowns, implants or fillings? You might have a metal allergy. Something to look into!
I was about ready to crawl into a hole, and suffer for the rest of my life. Dizzy spells were so severe and so unpredictable. I went to an Allergist, after no good results from an ENT. After a tympanogram showed that my ear was FULL of fluid, the allergy doctor prescribed QVAR (like asthmatics use) with a nipple to spray into my nose. It appears that my eustachian tube was blocked so that my ear could not drain.
I know EXACTLY what you are going through...I have it as well.
Keep cotton balls in you pockets at all times. I can't even enter half of the grocery stores anymore without experiencing grief, as they all seem to have big fans in the entrances now.
Stay away from hairdryers. Dry your ears with a towel as soon as you get out of the shower. Wear earplugs when swimming, and ear protection when in noisy areas.
Ask your doctor for some Serc to help with the vertigo.
Always hang on to the railing when climbing stairs.
Make sure to tell your friends and family that you have this...that way they aren't alarmed when you have an attack. I get the "drops"...this is when your legs suddenly seem to disappear from beneath you and you fall to the floor. Scary!
Loud bass will eventually drive you crazy...
I can't even handle rigs driving by anymore. lol
Don't be surprised if your hearing suddenly " improves " and you can hear people whispering a mile away...or when you suddenly can't hear anything.
I have many days where even the wings of a butterfly will give me a headache because it's too loud...and then I'll have days where I can't make out a single thing a person is saying.
I can't understand people with any type of accent...even my own grandfather. This can be part of the disease as well.
My husband almost died last summer...called 911 and couldn't understand the guy on the other end...very scary.
Ask to speak to ( a person with the same accent as you ) when you get calls that you don't understand. Explain to them that you aren't trying to be rude, but that you have this disease. Some will get ignorant, but most will be polite.
Avoid salt like you do, and caffeine....tough one for me. lol
If you have any more questions, just ask. We're in this ride together.
Glad to have you aboard this forum.
