Whoops!! I definitely got my anatomy wrong there. Otitis media...middle ear ear infection. I was thinking of the eustachian tube dysfunction which can lead to this. Sorry.
Fluid in the Eustachean Tube? More than likely the middle ear.
Hi,
I went through this just recently and found out the answer is to go to an ENT doc. In my case it was fluid in the eustachian tube because of an infection. Nothing over the counter will help. The doc prescribed antibiotics and steroids to calm the inflammation. When nothing worked he did a myringotomy without inserting a tube. Don't let that scare you! It's very simple and takes a few minutes in the office.
Your case may not be as bad as mine and I hope it isn't. But in case it is getting to that point you would do yourself a favor to get that appt with the ENT.
Let us know how it turns out.
