Ear ringing (tinitus), discharge from nose/sinus

Problem/Symptom(s):

For the past two months now I have had a constant ringing in my ear, with present discharge from the nose (sinus) as if I were to have a mild cold.

The ringing dose not cause any real problems, however it is annoying and I would rather not have it. Sometimes my ear also gets a feeling like it is blocked and this causes a weird (unpleasant) feeling. However I DO NOT experience any sensations like loss of balance etc.

Previous Advice:

I have been to several doctors. Of which they have given me; amoxicillin, decongestant for the nose (sinus) & pednisolone. None of which have helped.

Any information on a diagnosis of what I might have, or possible treatments or any other information would be GREATLY HELPFUL!

Thanks!

Ok, I would be interested in what a hearing test says.  If you listened to loud music or went to loud concerts as a teen it is likely that you have some hearing loss that is causing the ringing.
Keep me posted.

Ok.. I haven't had hearing test done just yet (I am waiting to go to a ENT spec), but I haven't played any loud music lately or being to any concerts etc.

But thanks for the advice & information.

You could have two different things going on.  The runny nose is probably totatlly separate from the tinitis.

Have you had your hearing tested?  If so, what did that say?

Have you frequently played loud music and/or go to loud concerts in you life?  Have you recently (before the symptoms started) had some sort of head trauma, even moderate?

Have you been evaluated for Minere's Disease?

There are many things that can cause tinitis, and very little treatment for it.  You should be seeing a good ENT, preferably one that specializes in hearing problems.  They can teach you coping mechanisms for the timitis.  Also, there is an OTC supplement near the eye care section of the pharmacy for tinitis.  You could give that a try.  My mom is on diuretics for her Minere's Disease.  That would be something to discus with your dr as well.

Keep us posted.
