Losing my voice

Every winter I lose my voice.  My throat doesn't get sore anything but it gets real dry.  It almost feels like, and this is gonna sound gross but I don't know how else to describe it, there is hardened snot in my throat.   When I eat something or drink something warm it kind of breaks up a little and I can cough some of it up but it's not phlegm.  It's like a real hardened snot kind if like the consistency of a just moistened corn flake.  I know that's gross but would could be causing this?

I don't think that it's to much phlegm.  It's more that what I'm coughing up is almost hard in consistency.

I don't know, but I would suggest stopping dairy as it cures a lot of people of too much phlegm.  I don't mean you have to read labels, but change to a non-dairy type milk, like almond if you aren't allergic to that.  Avoid regular ice cream, dairy yogurt, cheese cake, all the big obvious offenders, but don't worry about small amounts like Parmesan in food.

Drink mint tea.  Eat vegetables and avoid sugar.

Please try this and report back after 3 weeks.
