So Scared! having Functional Endoscopic Surgery Panicking about NOT BREATHING AFTER SURGERY!?

Hi, guys I am having Functional Endoscopic Surgery on April 29th. because of severe blockage on my sinuses. and I am a nervous wreck, I suffer from panic/anxiety attacks.

and I read that after the surgery is completed you are not able to breathe at all for a whole week. I am so nervous since i cannot imagine not being able to breathe that will cause severe panic issues, I was going to ask the doctor to keep me doped up on anxiety meds for the week that i cannot breathe.

Please let me know how your experience was with this surgery I am wanting to know if itstrue that one is not able to breathe after surgery thanks so much for your help.

Apparently doctors shove a starving wolverine into one nostril, where it scratches and eats until it hits brain.  Then they pull him out by the tail.  Nurses stop the bleeding by packing each nostril with a queen-sized mattress that is carefully wrapped around a wino.

Just saw your post of 3/09.  I have had 4 FESS surgeries with splints each time.  They say anyone who is freaked out by not being able to breathe through the nose should be on Valium or other tranquilizer for that week.  The last surgery I didn't know I wasn't supposed to, but I restarted irrigation after about two days and it not only got all the blood and gunk out, but I could breathe through the nose.  Then a few days later one of the splints fell out.  When I went back they told me that had never happened before and I didn't tell them I was irrigating.  It didn't affect the results.  Hope you have had your surgery and are better now. Feel free to contact me anytime.  I'm Angelica1.  Have had 9 sinus surgeries, 4 "window and wash" jobs, 1 septoplasty, and 4 FESS proceduries.

Why are you having a FESS?  Is the blockage caused by infection, or is it a physical abnormality, or both?  If it's a result only of infection, and you are under a certain age, you a chance to avoid the surgery altogether.
