I‘ve noticed for the past year or so that every time I ‘make out’ I seem to get a really bad throat. I don’t kiss random people outside of relationships and the latest was a girl I started dating at the beginning of the year. I hadn’t seen her for a few months due to lockdown but we’ve recently moved in together and neither of us have seen anyone else during the time. We have disclosed all health conditions and neither of us have any sti/std’s and have been tested recently. Neither or us were also feeling unwell at the times we’ve kissed. I only seem to get it after kissing and it lasts for a few days. She personally never has any symptoms of a sore throat or anything like it. Last time this happened (before a lockdown) both of us visited the doctors where our throats were checked. I was told it was not mono which I thought it was but my throat did look inflamed whereas her doctor reported hers was completely normal and healthy.
Any advice on what could be causing it or ways we could prevent this as it only seems to be affecting me?
So do you use the same toothpaste? Mouthwash? It may be a stretch, but maybe you're having a reaction to her toothpaste or mouthwash, or something she is eating or drinking.
When you saw the doctor, did you have a sore throat? Did they culture it?
