What is the severe mucus buildup with pain behind upper eye sockets?

My daughter started out with dry eye syndrome 10 yrs ago.  Many doctors seen during those years. Problem has now become so severe that she is being treated for Sjögren's ( false positives) and meibomian gland dysfunction.  Treatment is not helping.

She feels coarse mucus rolling around behind upper eye lids which doctors cannot visibly see; the mucus is not in her nasal cavities, it is behind eye socket.  This is bothering her the most... the horrendous pressure and pain.  She is now pretty much bedridden in the fetal position from the pain and whimpering,

Her pain is so severe (for so long) that she is now in a state of panic and has tried to take her life.  She has tried everything doctors have suggested, and her doctors tell her they do not know what else to do for her. Opthamologists, etc.

Has used Restasis and had special eye drops made from her own blood; has had Lipiflow done.  She cannot function at work and now cannot open her eyes enough to even drive.  Her doctors say this is the most severe case they have seen.    She is married and has 2 children; she is 44 yrs.  She has filed for FMLA until a solution is found,.

Yesterday she was hysterical and said. "... it has been the worst (pain day) yet...".  Have you heard of a case this severe?  The last 3 months have been constant panic attacks knowing what the next day will bring... and no sleep at night. What can she do?
