should I see a doctor?

A little while ago I saw an ENT as a dental xray showed nasal polyps, and slight deviation of septum (which the ENT didnt seem to concerned about, so not major deviation), and i often seemed to be just a bit stuffy and also felt like I was choking particularly if i did excercise like ride my bike.  He just recommended a homemade saline solution and said it was probably rhinosinusitis.  Now, I have had four colds this winter (so between 1st june and now, 23rd august)! I dont ever remember being so frequently sick, and they have all be the same with heavy phlegmy coughs and sore throats.  I normally wouldnt bother going to a doctor for just a cold, but wondering if the frequency of the colds, and recurring coughs, might have something to do with that earlier stuff?  I have seen stuff that postnasal drip from sinusitis can cause coughs...

Thanks - yes I had a CT before seeing him, which found  moderate deviation of midnasal septum to the right, narrowing of right nasal passage, mild to moderate mucosal thickening in nasal turbinates, (more so on right), and also mild mucosal thickening in osteomeatal complexes causing mild to moderate narrowing.  He didnt seem to be fussed by the deviation (As apparently most people have some level of deviation) or the narrowing.

Hi,

I personally feel the ENT specialist should have asked for the X-ray of Para nasal sinuses rather than relying on the dental X-ray. Usually dentists ask for an OPG which does not include most of the sinuses. Even though your ENT specialist has made a right diagnosis, he should have started you on the right medicines.

It is better you consult another ENT specialist and get the right treatment. Till then you can continue using those saline nasal drops as well drink plenty of warm water and take steam inhalations.

All the Best

I would recommend reconsulting the ENT Specialist you saw or getting a second opinion from another ENT Specialist if you think the first one really isn't going to address your problems and concerns.
