Hello and hope you are doing well.

Tonsillectomy is advised if there is recurrent streptococcal tonsillitis, recurrent peritonsillar abscess and chronic tonsillitis. Also, repeated strep throat infections are an indication for tonsillectomy, as the tonsils may harbor the infection which keeps flaring up, or they may develop new infections.
Discuss these options with your consulting doctor.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Hi
If you have tonsilitus you would probably be in quite a bit of pain and hardly be able to swallow any food, also if you look in your mouth you can easily see if they are inlamed.  if this sounds like you, go back to the doctors and ask him for antibiotics, they will usaully take care od the infection.  I had alot of trouble with with my tonsils in my early 20`s, one time I almost died my tonsils developed an abcess and blocked my airways where I had difficultly breathing, the doctor rushed me to hospital and I had an operation (basiclally they put a needle into the abcess and drained all the puss and blood) this happened again a few years later, after this and a couple of months I eventually had my tonsils removed and Ive not had any problems 10 years on.  Please if u have inflamed tonsills get some antibiotics so it doesn`t develop into quinsy (abcess on tonsills) as its painfull and digusting! hope you get well soon and goodluck! if you have any more questions and i can help just send me a message ok.  bye!
