CMV Mono in my 9yr old and Liver enzymes STILL climbing

I took my 9yr old daughter to urgent care last Friday after 4 days of tummy pain and no relief.  We were quickly passed to the Children's ER and were later admitted for high Liver Enzymes and a possible enlarged spleen.  Her AST was 205 and ALT was 334 and she had NO other symptoms except tummy pain at that time (but I found her to be extremely pale).  The following morning they confirmed a "mildly" enlarged spleen but Liver numbers came down slightly (AST 169, ALT 285).  The next day numbers stayed about the same (AST 174, ALT 280) but her neck lymph-nodes swelled significantly.  By that afternoon her throat was sore with puss on tonsils. On our 4th and final day in the hospital she tested positive for a Monospot test.  Blood was drawn for the HBV and CMV tests.  Liver numbers on this day jumped (AST 230, ALT 344).  We were discharged with "Mono" and directed to retest labs in 48hrs to ensure liver was returning to normal.  We followed up with PC Dr. yesterday and I was shock that numbers had again increased (AST 317, ALT 454).  A Coagulation test was performed and they confirmed her liver was still functioning normally even with the elevated enzymes.  We are still home and retesting labs again Friday.  As of this morning, she appears the same regarding her tummy.  Her neck is still swollen and throat sore.  Additionally, she has developed a cough and congested sound today.  She did test positive for the CMV (IgM) in her initial lab work.

I am trying to understand what happens from here!  Is this a normal reaction to the CMV/Mono virus? Everything I find online speaks of the typically symptoms and references "More serious infections in immune compromised people include liver and spleen complications."  I would love to hear if anyone else has experienced this and if I can relax and just let things run their course or if I should be concerned that something larger is taking place.

Any input is GREATLY appreciated.  God Bless.

Only 7yrs old...so sad!  I'm so sorry for you and your son. I appreciate your response. I honestly feel so alone right now!  I'm sitting here watching her sleep thinking how helpless I feel. She has only been identified as EBV/CMV positive for 3 weeks but did have active infections of both when we were initially hospitalized a few weeks ago. I will say I feel she was sick for at least 3-6 weeks prior with the general illness, fatigue, and random complaints (mostly I saw it in her eyes...that look a mom knows).

Just last week she spontaneously broke out into a head to toe rash that itched profusely lasting about 5 days. Now that the rash has subsided we are back to feeling unwell and most of all the constant pain. I emailed her dr today that said she didn't understand her pain as her liver numbers were returnig to normal (ALT down to 250 and AST down to 146 last week). She thought she should be feeling better but that is far from the case. I honestly do not think she is any better (possibly worse).  Walking, standing too long, even riding in the car causes more pain!  I just want to see her have some relief.

Has your son experienced an enlarged spleen or liver? What has you overall experience been?  Any info is appreciated. I have found VERY LITTLE information other than these can be the symptoms but they are usually mild or affect immune compromised children.

I am very sorry for your 9yr old. My son is just 7y. He is positive for EBV igg titers. He has been ill since nov 2013. He got diagnosed only last friday. It is just aweful to see him with so many fevers. I am reading as much as possible to figure this out. I am sure he will soon be seeing a specialist. I dont know much about the CMV but hopefully you get answers. God bless you.
