Hello, what AllergyNerd has told you is exactly correct. There's a huge range of symptoms that can be associated with EBV/Mono, but the most common are fever and sore throat (both initially), along with swollen lymph nodes and extreme fatigue. As far as treatment, there is none. If someone has mono/EBV, they need to get as much rest as they can, in order to help their body fight off the infection naturally. Eating healthy and taking vitamins might also possibly help, but rest is the main thing that needs to be done. Hope this helps!
If you do a basic search online, you will find many resources.
I believe it's spread through bodily fluids, usually saliva, so yes, it could be spread in a household. It is diagnosed through blood tests (make sure they are looked at closely because there are several factors at play, most notably, knowing if EBV is 'acute'). Most people have EBV, but do not show symptoms etc... It is causes mono also. I was tested a few months ago and the dr. said I likely have mono and she only went off of the EBV results.
