Is there a correlation between the Epstein-Barr virus and tonsillar hypertrophy?e

I first contracted the Epstein-Barr virus with a classically identifiable case of mononucleosis while I was in university, 22 years ago. I have tonsillar hypertrophy which requires surgical removal of my tonsils. Should I ask my general physician about any specific topics or subjects and should I raise any issues or my EBV status with my ENT surgeon?
