2nd operation

Hi. I was born with congenital cataracts and had my natural lens and lens capsule removed in the 70's. 2 weeks ago I had an IOL inserted as I was wearing high powered contact lenses for long periods of time and I was developing complications. Unfortunately my sight has been very hazy since the surgery and today I was told the reason for this is, the remains of my natural lens has detached and has moved position and is now blocking my view. (I can see what looks like cotton wool in my pupil when I look in the mirror) My surgeon is going to perform a second operation tomorrow to remove the piece of lens and flush out the eye. I was just wondering if anyone knew about recovery times. Will I be back to square one, like 2 weeks ago or will this be a minor op and a quick recovery? Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

Thank you very much for your reply and information.  I'm pleased to say that even though I am in quite a bit of pain, I'm doing well. The haze has gone. Kind regards.

In your previously posted question (10/14/15) I said that this operation is unusual and recovery is not as fast or predictable as the standard cataract removal insertion of IOL done in an adult.

The complication you have is not rare. The white stuff is usuallyy as Soemmering's Ring dislocation see link below.

This is not a minor operation. This will reset the clock to day one again. Because this is an atypical problem and these cases are all somewhat different its not likely anyone can predict how fast you will recovery.
