Torics are more expensive than monofocal; they have unique complications that aspheric monofocal don't have (e.g. off axis and have to be rotated on axis). When located on axis and have the correct amount of astigmatism they give better uncorrected vision in people with astigmatism and monofocal IOLs. Most surgeons would not use for less than 1 diopter of astigmatism. The vision is much better than with multifocals with less glare, dysphotopsia and night vision problems. You alone need to decide for yourself what extra risks and expenses you wish to assume.
