What do we do next?

My spry 90 yr old mother had cataract sx with toric IOL two weeks ago.  She did pretty well, but never got the 20/20 results from toric lens implant as sugggested she would get.  We got a second opinion only to find out she now has macular degeneration in that eye correctable to only 20/40, but there is an outer canthus (superior, I think?) HAPTIC that is not correctly in place.  The first surgeon fluffed us off earlier before the swelling went down saying an Astigmatic Keratotomy would fix the problem before we knew about the macular degeneration--but now we feel the first surgeon should fix the haptic problem rather than let it slide before operating on the second cataract.  How should this haptic be fixed, and how critical a problem is this?

If the first surgeon did fix the haptic function to begin with I'd be hessitant to have it do it now. Get the 2nd opinion

The haptic should be fixed.  It can lead to pigmentary dispersion and glaucoma or inflammation which can cause a decrease in vision.
