Ouinine and retina toxicity

A person who has  healthy one eye, only (the other eye's seeing has been lost because of RD, the remaining eye is lasered for holes and tears / his myopia is very high).

Right now he has to take quinine pills for along time. He does not have to take different medicine. He is afraid of its advers effects.

Is it certain to lose visual levels when taking the pills? Could we do anything to reduce the advers effects?

Thank you very much.

Quinine is used to treat malaria and is not highly toxic to the eye. You can easily find on the internet side effects, precautions, dosage. On the other hand plaquenil has some potential (low) for ocular damage. Read more  https://www.drugs.com/pro/plaquenil.html
