what are the chances of retina detachment in high myopia?

I'm 19 and I have severe myopia, -16L and -18R, is rd a guarantee for me? Or are the chances of it happening to me still relatively low?

My doc says that high myopia only cause lattice degeneration and retinal holes, both of which are, for the most part benign conditions, is this true?

Chances perhaps one in 1000.    Lattice occurs in 8% of the population and is generally benign. Holes vary in how much they are a problem: Type, size, location.
