Can anything be done to Optic nerve damage

my mother lost her sight in her left eye when she was 2  due to a condition. Her optic nerve is dead and her  right  eye has little vision due to some optic nerve damage too. Is there anything she can do /wear to improve her vision. She is 42 years old.

As a generalization optic nerve death is not fixable with today's technology.  Use an internet search and read about the Argus 2 artificial eye. It helps some but not all types of severe blindness. You should probably seek an opinion at a world class tertiary eye referral center close enough to where she lives that transportation is not a problem.
