LEFT OPTIC NERVE STROKE

I am a 67 year old white healthy female who a month and a half ago had a stroke of her left optic nerve and became partially blind in the left eye. The docs gave me a regiment of Prednisone which did NOT help one bit. I am looking for trials or experimental ways to help get some??? of my vision back in the UNITED STATES of America. I have found Germany to be doing great things with electrical stimulation with good results but who wants to go all the way to Germany when you live in the USA?  Does anyone know of anything going on here in this country for loss of ones optic nerve?   What's with the USA?? Thanks alot   All replies WILL help.

A "stroke in the eye" is not a medical diagnosis.  It is a 'composite lay term" that might include: central or peripheral retinal vein or artery occlusion,  arteritic or non-arteritic ischemic optic neuropathy, retinal artery emboli,  even brain stroke with secondary peripheral visual field loss,  idopathic or secondary optic neuritis.  So you would need to post a precise diagnosis in order to offer helpful information. Best thing would be to get a second opinion from a university dept of ophthalmology or see a neuro-ophthalmologist.
