Which lenses to have for catact surgery

I am 49 years old and very confused about whether I should have cataract surgery.  The optician has suggested I should but the ophthalmologist suggested I was too young and the risks were a lot higher as I am myopic.  I have the formation of cataracts at the top of my eyes so my eyesight is not good in poor light and driving at night  the headlights glare.  I am very active but also work in an office and would love a life without glasses constantly but unsure what to do or what lenses to have.  Many thanks

You need to put a lot of thought into this.   This is a question I ask any patient considering cataract surgery.  I've done over 12,000 cataract operations and done pre and post operative care on many times that.   I ask the patient "For everything you need to do,  how big of a problem is your vision:  no problem, small problem, medium problem, big problem,  big problem bothers me enough to have surgery having an understanding of the risks involved.  Unless the patient answers the latter we do not do surgery.   If this is not a big problem big enough to do surgery you should consider waiting till it is. Also being young and myopic you are at increased risk of retinal detachment, and likely both eyes would need to have surgery to balance.  READ THIS ARTICLE THEN POST ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE:   LINK  https://www.medhelp.org/user_journals/show/1648102/Consider-ALL-the-Options-Before-Your-Cataract-Surgery-Working-Through-Whats-Best-For-You--2019-2020-Update
