Jerky Vision

Hi there,

I have been having problems with my vision for around 8 months now and I can't seem to find anyone who can offer an explanation.  I have been to around 8 doctors including eye and brain specialists and been told I have migraines but it's been constant for 8 months!

I have "jerky" vision which is difficult to explain.  When I sit still and focus, my eyesight is fine but whenever I move or I am driving my eyes seem to take too long to focus properly.  This problem gets better and worse but never completely goes away and seems to follow no obvious pattern.  Coupled with the eye problems I get a feeling of being run down all the time, I have headaches which get proportionally painful at the same time as my vision gets worse.  Also proportionate to my eye problems is a great deal of pain and stiffness in my back and neck.  On two occasions I have broken down in tears and shakes for around 20 minutes which is out of character for me and I have fainted once immediately after stretching my back and neck.

I have been to a specialist eye hospital twice and they can find nothing wrong with my eyes and I have been for an MRI scan which showed nothing wrong again.

If anyone reading this can even form a theory on what it might be I would be very interested.  I have exhausted my GP and been to two others with no joy and I'm now desperate.

Many thanks

Ian

See a neurologist and rheumatologist as could be MS, fibromyalgia, or other systemic problem.

Have you been to an ear specialist--a neuro-otologist, also spelled neurotologist?

Had an ENG/VNG (electro- or videonystagmography, to look for abnormal eye movements)?

I'm not any kind of expert and have no medical training, but I wonder if the eye problem is a vestibular one? However, if you've seen neurologists, they surely would have considered that and referred you if necessary.

Migraines can cause all kinds of weird stuff. Since you are having headaches with the vision problem, that would seem to make sense, I guess.

Good luck...

After the work up you've had I have no additional thoughts on the problem.
