Afraid to try my new glasses again...after severe problem?

After my last eye exam, I was told I had been wearing the wrong prescription for three years.  I was given a new prescription and had two new pairs of rather expensive eyeglasses made (progressives, glass lenses, etc). I put my new glasses on this morning for the very first time. After two hours, I had work to do for school at the computer. After thirty minutes of typing I lost my vision ! First everything got hard to see and blurry (I tried to strain to see because I only had one paragraph left to type). Then, a flashy line (it looked like this...VVVVVV ) appeared across the horizon of both eyes. I couldn't see anything not even with the old glasses. I laid down to rest my eyes but even when they were closed I saw the lines. Eventually, the flashy line literally worked it's way up to the top of my eyes and left and my vision returned. I was terrified. I am afraid to even try the new glasses again. I was told that it might take two days to adjust to my new glasses, but I never experienced anything like this. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I have bad vision in left eye (lazy eye) and fair vision in my right.

Thank you,
Raine

The flashy thing suggests an Eye Migraine (often no headache) or a TIA which could be disease of heart, brain or blood vessels. See an Eye MD soon. Find one at www.aao.org

That flashy line may have nothing do with your glasses. it could be a migraine, a floater. you should see an optomologist for a full exam if you are uncomfortable with where you are. find one at aao.org
