Several questions on floaters?

1. When people say shower of floater, do they mean enough floater that their vision is blocked.
2. I see a fast moving thing in my vision, but never can tell what it is  because it moves too fast. Are these floaters?
3. Can floaters be still meaning not moving at all?
4Why do people complain that floaters are annoying because I only see them when I look at the sky?
Thanks.

Dr. John. Sorry about that!
I have IIH, Idiopathic  Intracranial Hypertension, more commonly known as PTC in your side of the world!
(Again with the acronyms! Pseudo Tumor cerebri.)
Because of the illness, I have Papilloedema, in both eyes , for the last three years. At the moment, they are "healing", the best they have been.
Hence, where my original question comes to the fore;Is it normal to have such a large amount of "floaters", to the point where is is interfering with my vision?

Thank you very much for your care and concern. Cath 278.

I always like to clarify acronyms. What do you mean IIH.

Dear Dr. John, thank you for your concern. Yes,the health system has collapsed here, unfortunately. Bad times.

Something else I thought, of which maybe you could commit on.

During the last few months , I developed very high blood pressure. One reading was, 200/144. It seems the high blood pressure is in some way related to the IIH.
My neuro did see " silvering" of the optic nerves, which she said is as a result of the high blood pressure?
Thankfully, I have responded very well to medication, and blood pressure is in the safe zone again.

Could this "silvering" be a cause of the problem?

Thank you very much for your advise and commints. Cath278.

It is atrocious that you can't get in to see an ophthalmologist sooner than Jan 11th. That is unheard of in the USA. We see patients with your problems and emergencies same day or within 24 hrs at the latest.

I don't know how I can help you. You need to look in your eye to see if you have had a vitreous hemorrhage, retinal detachment, retinal tear, or inflammatory debris in the vitreous.

Try and beg an emergency visit.

Hello Dr. John. As you explained in the above post, I am "seeing  soot in the eyes, or hundreds of small dots."

I have IIH, resolved Papilledema, plus a VP shunt.
In the last few months , I have experienced a lot of eye pain , again, behind my eyes.
Also,a lot of floaters , which are obscuring my vision.
If I look at a white wall, it looks "dirty".
Altho my neuro says my paps are healed, the disc margins are still blurred and cotton wool looking. There is no distinction or clear lines.
I am waiting on an appointment with Ophthalmology, which is in Jan 11. Cant get one sooner. Should I be concerned? Thanking you, Cath278.
