What to do in between 2 cataract surgeries?

Does anyone have any hints or ideas about how to cope with the awkward days in between having the first eye done and the second eye done?  I am very nearsighted and my glasses are quite thick.  My doc said that she would hope to do the eyes only one week apart, if all goes well with the first eye, to minimize the uncomfortable days.  I mentioned taking out the lens on my glasses of the eye which had been fixed, and she didn't think I would be very happy with that solution.  I'm planning to do monovision lenses for far vision (Alcon IQ aspheric, I believe).  Any other ideas?  Thanks.

Thanks to both of you for the comments.  I think my doc mentioned that possibility but then didn't recommend it.  I wore hard and gas-permeable lenses for over 50 years.  I have extremely dry eyes, which is why I had to quit wearing my contacts and address the cataract situation.  (BTW I meant to say in my post that my IOLs would be monofocal, not monovision).  I don't want to do anything to mess up the "second eye" while it awaits surgery.  I'll ask my doc again if there is anything I can do... I sure don't want a headache that lasts for that many days.  Thanks again.

Yes, try a disposable contact.  If you're not used to contact lenses, I'd recommend a one-day disposable contact that you toss at the end of the day.  (Some disposable contacts can be re-used for 2 weeks or longer.)  I like 1-day Acuvue moist contacts.

A solution is to use a disposable contact lens to balance the two eyes.
