There is an ICL soon to be approved from Alcon. It seems to be good from clinical trials thus far. A PI is not needed, does not clip to the iris causing distortion, less chance of a cataract, and can be easily removed.

You are probably too nearsighted to be fully corrected with LASIK or PRK. There is another type of surgery where contact lenses are placed inside your eyes, but there are some problems associated with this procedure. You need to be evaluated by an ophthalmologist who specializes in refractive surgery. Possibly a combination of LASIK and thin glasses would work for you.
Different types of contact lenses are very different in terms of comfort for the wearer. I find that the one-day disposable contacts are much more comfortable than the ones that you wear for 2 weeks or a month. I like 1-day Acuvue moist contacts but there are some newer brands on the market worth testing out. You might consider consulting an optometrist who specializes in fitting contacts.
Have you tried aspheric, or high-index, plastic lenses? These can be made considerably thinner than standard lenses. Other than that, I think your only other choice is refractive surgery.
There are of course risks with any surgery, but you can minimize that by making sure you go to someone who is very experienced with this type of surgery.
