computer, eyes, prism glasses and CAREER

Problems:
1. I have to work on computer for 14 hrs a day, 6 days a week on average. But whenever I work on computer for more than 2 hrs my eyes start to pain and I don't feel like sitting in front of computer but sadly I have to because I know nothing except coding. My eyes are perfectly fine when I don't sit in front of computer.
2. My eyes are a little bit dry so I use some lubricating jel.
3. My eye power is getting worse each time I go for check-up and now my eye power is -5.5 sph. on left and -5.25 sph. -0.75 cyl on the right. Even worse this time they prescribed 10 BO prism for both eyes for the reason that it'll help reduce eye pain/fatigue while working on computer for long duration.

Questions:
1. Does working on computer for long duration worsens eye power? If it does I'm ready to make a very bold decision to change my career. FYI: I remember one of the doctor telling me that the eye power can change even if you stay idle doing nothing (reading, computer work, etc).
2. I'm hesitant to use prism glasses as I've read in different forums that once you start using it there's no way back, the prism power  keeps on increasing, you may look cross eyed and even worse without glasses you'll have bi-visual problem. Is it okay to go for prism glasses?

Let me know your thoughts. Your thoughts/experiences will help me decide my next step in my career.

1. No the relationship of near work (reading, computers, etc.) is not strong enough to justify a career change. It may play a very minor role is some people but the exponential explosion of people using computer monitors and iPads and smart phones has not been associated with a dramatic increase of myopia.
2. I suggest you see an Eye MD ophthalmologist. Ideally one that specializes in eye muscle problems (strabismus or sometimes called pediatric ophthalmologists[they do adults almost always{.   You need to be checked for latent eye muscle problem like convergence insufficiency or over-correction of your myopia. I would do this before you get the prism glasses. Hopefully you mean 1.0 (one) diopter of base out prism in each eye and not 10 (ten) as you typed.
3. You can find a EyeMD at www.geteyesmart.org
