implants not great

I had cataract surgery/lens implant surgery less then two months ago, both eyes. The pre exam indicated my eyes were in good condition and that results should be OK, however after the last procedure  I had bad stigmatisms (sp) in both eyes, my near vision (10-15 feet) was OK, but far vision was out of focus. After the new glasses I have focus problems after 30 or 40 yards when driving, and problems reading some small print, my vision is now 20/40. I had my glasses checked and they are OK, What happened and what can be done?

No one not even your surgeon can tell if you will adjust well to them. Most people do, I did.  Millions of other people have. Often takes a week or two.  No line progressive bifocals are about 85% of the multifocal market and lined lens only 15% and becoming less and less used.

Thank your for your reply, if I switch to progressive lens will I be able to move and adjust them to see such things as speed limit and road signs at distance on the highway? As it is now I have to be close, 20 or so yards to see them.

You must not have bad astigmatism (aspherical cornea) for if you did your vision 10-15 feet would not be good.  To have the best vision possible at all distances your glasses would need to be progressive (no line) bifocals. If your vision with glasses is not good then there must be some additional eye problem. Either discuss with your surgeon or get a second opinion.
