40 and first ivf

Hey ladies,

I just turned 40 a week ago and will begin my first ivf cycle this month.  Transfer will probably be sometime in February. I was wondering if any of you got pregnant with ivf at 40 with your own eggs?

Also, were you pregnant before?   I was pregnant last summer but miscarried.

Thank you so much for your kind words, I really appreciate it. I am doing well and feeling good.  Surprisingly, my miscarriage started today!  I passed a lot of tissue and am resting right now.  I will see the doctor tomorrow.  I have moved on and looking forward to IVF#2 in mid-May if everything goes well.  In the meantime I will continue to try to lose weight, feel good, perm my hair and enjoy the spring. I am so heart broken!  I know there is nothing that I can say to comfort you during this time.  The journey that infertility takes us on is a hell of a ride.  I wish you much success on your next attempt.  As my RE said when I m/c last Aug., you have mastered the hard part of getting pregnant.  If you need to talk, please feel free to send me a message.  I so feel for you and wish your heart and mind comfort.  We are all here for you on MH, and please lean on us!  Again, my heart goes out for you, and I will be praying for you.

Can anyoneone answer the following for me.

I am 9dpt after 5dt (2 blastos 1 morula).

Is it better to do a HCG beta on day 10 pt or day 12 pt?.

I see that some women dont get high levels of HCG on day 10 beta test even after transfering day 5 blastos not day 3 embies.

In reality then day 10 would be 16 days after egg retrieval
                     day 12 would be 18 days after egg

Any advice would be much appreciated. I am so anxious.

Some women get good levels SOOOOOOOOOOOOO early.....

Did a HPT this morning with a -ve response. It was a First Response test.

Have no "Monthly Witch" signs yet and should have seen them last night/today.

Please GOD help me stay sane...

Well the twins are not developing normally and I will miscarry.  So sad.  Wish I had better news but that's life.  I will try for IVF#2 in the late spring/early summer. Good luck to everyone!

See I just knew since you had transfer on my B-day 2/12 you would be lucky.  Now If I can get myself as lucky.  doing the IUI today........I am praying!!!!!!

Had my first u/s and it showed twins!  Wow!
That was unexpected!  Baby A is on target and had a heartbeat, Baby B was smaller and no heartbeat yet.  The doc said Baby B may have implanted late and could definitely make it to a live birth.  So for now I have twins and will hope that they both make it.  My next u/s is March 19.  I am saying a little prayer for my little ones and hope they do well over the next week.  Feeling relieved for now but still cautious.  ****baby dust to all****

WOW!!! Im SO happy for you!!! I hope I get lucky this time. Im 41 and this is my 4th IVF. Retreival is Tuesday, transfer is Friday

So I got my BFP confirmed the other day and beta was 288.  I had my 2nd beta today and it was 889.  Looks like this 1st ivf worked but still cautious.  First u/s will be week of march 8.  Can't wait to see the little sac!!!  I'll post later....

I am aware of that. That is why I tested on Wednesday. That was exactly 10 days after the shot and I got a BFN.  Then two days later is when I got the faint line and today the line was darker so I am confident that at this point it is not from the hcg.  Thanks for your concern.

The problem with them is that you may still have hgh from your trigger shot, get happy and then not being pregnant at all. It takes at least 10 days for the hgh to go away!

My blood test is 2/26.  I tested this morning with FRER and a cvs cheapie with FMU and both revealed that I am very BFP!!  I had a clearly darker pink line and the other showed a much darker and wider blue line.  I know a lot of people hate those things but I have found them to be reliable.  Today I am 11dp3dt and couldn't be happier.  Thanks for your concern, I appreciate it. ;)

Gosh, I really forgot about this post!  OK so here's the update:
my follies 2 days before retrieval were 22,20,19,17,15.  My E2 was 756, a little low.
They retrieved 5 eggs, 4 fertilized and all 4 made it to transfer.
I had 1 - 8 cell, 1- 7 cell and 2- 4 cell.  My transfer was 2/12.
I took the week off to relax and I am feeling good.  After the transfer I spent the rest of the day in bed and am feeling pretty good today so far.  I hope everyone has a great valentine's day and *******baby dust*********

OK so I spotted today so I will start the bc pills tomorrow and whatever else they tell me to do. Finally I am on the IVF track!  Can't wait to do the transfer - I know that won't be for a while but am really excited!  baby dust to all ********

Im 41, 42 on the 12th of this month and pregnant via IVF with my own everything. We got lucky on our third and final IVF cycle, so it CAN HAPPEN FOR YOU TOO!!!
