Good Luck to you. I am 37 & just did my first IVF but also miscarried. I will have D&C tomorrow.
I am sorry to hear about your miss but wish you lots of luck with this IVF. Good Luck to you & keep us posted on your results.
Girls,
My doctor claims that once pregnant (even if miscarried) it can happen to you again.
That is why the 1st question fertility doctors ask you is whether you have ever been pregnant. Miscarriage could be due to many reasons. I think maintaining a healthy diet and doing some exercising could help egg quality.
I have seen many women over the age of 40 getting pregnant either naturally or with help.
Where I come from, the procedure of the 'natural' cycle is getting very popular. This is when they monitor the one good egg we are supposed to produce naturally throughout the month and when it is mature enought they get it out, fertilise it and then put it back. No stims involved and the costs are much lower. It seems to have a lot of success for women 35+.
Thanks for those tips. I am a mail carrier so I am walking 5 hrs a day. I know that is good but still alittle over weight...about 20 lbs. I have to do IVF because of a blocked tube although now that I just had D&C today as soon as I get AF we will try again naturally.
Otherwise I will probably start my 2nd cycle in late feb/ march or so.
My Dr said the same thing about getting pregnant again...being positive I did get pregnant. I am hopeing he is right.
Thanks so much for the post. My doc told me when I had my miscarriage that a viable pregnancy is more possible than that of a person who never gets pregnant. I had 3 iui's last year, 2 failed and one was the pregnancy that resulted in miscarriage.
Kricket, so sorry about your miscarriage, I feel your pain. Hang in there, the weeks will go by really fast and before you know if you will be back in the saddle again! In the meantime, work on losing weight if you can and keep busy with some projects to get your mind off of all this - just my advice, worked for me.
I am just really curious about other people's experiences with ivf over 40 and their success rates. Anyway, love to hear from you more. :))
it's true that if you're able to get pg even MC, you could pg again. I hope this year is your lucky year, and good luck to your comming cycle.
I'm almost 40 too. after 6 failed IUIs never get pg on IUI and move on IVF and got pg twice but ectopics and now I just 9w2d today. I hope nothing wrong with this one.
Thanks so much I really appreciate it.
So excited for you! I hope all goes well and you get your bundle of joy!
Wow 9 weeks already, you're almost there!!! I will pray for you. Keep me posted.

I got preggo at nearly 40 with a donor embie - mom was 35 at time of freezing - wheb I miscarried the doc said "well the mom was old"!
I got preggo and carried with donor embryos three times since
I am 43
hi there -
so i had 3 MCs and the no luck with IUI and injectibles. next step is IVF. i feel weird doing ivf since i have conceived without meds and DH has great sperm but i am told the age factor/ odds of good eggs etc is now getting more elusive. i will be 39 in 2 1/2 months. so are you doing IVF for age or for other TTC challenges?
i'm going to try PGD as well are you??? anyway i will be a month behind you but would love a buddy. good luck.
I will be 40 in a few days and am starting my first round of all injectibles. I also have only one tube so we may be faced with IVF as well in the very near future. I've been pregnant 4 times (2 m/c, one good pregnancy resulting in daughter and an ectopic).
Wow! Thank you all for your posts.
mysty - right now I'm not interested in a donor embie, want to try my own.
usuk, we are doing ivf for age factor only. what is pgd? anyway, being ivf buddies would be nice. Keep me posted and good luck!
mlb1234 - glad to see that we are almost the same age exactly. Keep me posted about your progress, I am very interested. Congrats on your daughter, let's hope for #2 this year!
Let's make it happen girls in 2010!!!
Hey, just an update - I just heard from my nurse and my insurance has approved my IVF so I am on go starting next week! I'm really relieved and excited and can't wait to try IVF. I know it is a lot of work with the shots and everything but it will be interesting.
Wish me luck and baby dust to all!!! :)
Good luck - let me know how the IVF goes!!! SSBD!!!
Good Luck..........Praying for you.
Im 41, 42 on the 12th of this month and pregnant via IVF with my own everything. We got lucky on our third and final IVF cycle, so it CAN HAPPEN FOR YOU TOO!!!
That is wonderful, congratulations!!! Thank you so much for sharing with me, it gives me hope. Do you have any advice? Would love to hear from you again.
Again, I am really excited to begin ivf treatment and have the procedure done.
mlg1234 and Kricket, thanks so much for the good wishes, I really appreciate it.
Keep me posted as to your progress. baby dust*****
OK so I spotted today so I will start the bc pills tomorrow and whatever else they tell me to do. Finally I am on the IVF track! Can't wait to do the transfer - I know that won't be for a while but am really excited! baby dust to all ********
Gosh, I really forgot about this post! OK so here's the update:
my follies 2 days before retrieval were 22,20,19,17,15. My E2 was 756, a little low.
They retrieved 5 eggs, 4 fertilized and all 4 made it to transfer.
I had 1 - 8 cell, 1- 7 cell and 2- 4 cell. My transfer was 2/12.
I took the week off to relax and I am feeling good. After the transfer I spent the rest of the day in bed and am feeling pretty good today so far. I hope everyone has a great valentine's day and *******baby dust*********
Thinking of you!
When is your blod test?
Don't do HPT they are evil and not 100% accurate!!!
My blood test is 2/26. I tested this morning with FRER and a cvs cheapie with FMU and both revealed that I am very BFP!! I had a clearly darker pink line and the other showed a much darker and wider blue line. I know a lot of people hate those things but I have found them to be reliable. Today I am 11dp3dt and couldn't be happier. Thanks for your concern, I appreciate it. ;)
The problem with them is that you may still have hgh from your trigger shot, get happy and then not being pregnant at all. It takes at least 10 days for the hgh to go away!
Wish you good luck!!!
I am aware of that. That is why I tested on Wednesday. That was exactly 10 days after the shot and I got a BFN. Then two days later is when I got the faint line and today the line was darker so I am confident that at this point it is not from the hcg. Thanks for your concern.
So I got my BFP confirmed the other day and beta was 288. I had my 2nd beta today and it was 889. Looks like this 1st ivf worked but still cautious. First u/s will be week of march 8. Can't wait to see the little sac!!! I'll post later....
WOW!!! Im SO happy for you!!! I hope I get lucky this time. Im 41 and this is my 4th IVF. Retreival is Tuesday, transfer is Friday
Good luck to you and thank you for the note. Keep us posted as to your progress.
By the way, how many follies do you have?
Hope you get lots of rest and again, good luck!
