Anyone starting IVF Jan/Feb 2009?

I am on a break after we canceled my 2nd IVF due to low follie count, I am taking BCP and DHEA for 2 months and then trying again. Just wondering if anyone else is on a break in between or just starting first one in Jan/Feb 2009. We can pass the time, while we wait.

I am 34 and my DH is 41. I have chronic endometriosis which I had a lap for 2 months ago. I have had 2 failed pregnancies, a year of nothing happening and a year of 3 failed IUIs. Thus the IVF journey is next.

I'll be 41 at the end of the month.  A long history of trying to get pregnant. 3 misses,
my first IVF failed in August,   My second attempt failed after my doctor changed my meds, but my body was not receptive.  So now I'm waiting for my cycle to get back on track.  I may be starting in December. Add me to the list.

I, too, am going to be starting an IVF cycle in Dec/Jan- this will be #4 for us. Two failed and one cancelled. We have some male factor and I also had endometritis (an infection) which could have cause my IVFs to fail. I have lost four pregnancies, 3 m/c and 1 ectopic which lead to losing one of my tubes.  I am 28 and my dh is 30, we have one child and he just turned 6.  This will be my first IVF with a new RE and have to say I love where I am going now.  I am going to be doing an antigon cycle so instead of it being a 6 wk (or so cycle) it's going to be right around four weeks.  I am really looking forward to this cycle, the best part of it is, is that it is up to dh and I how many embryos we want to put back- at the other doctor they would only put back 2 because of my age and would not consider my history.  Wishing good things for all of us in this upcoming cycle!!!!!

I will be starting IVF in Dec/Jan also. This will be my first one. I am 26 and DH is 27. We had male infertility but he had surgery to fix it. Still no success after 5 failed IUI's so now its time for IVF. I am excted and nervous about the whole thing. I will be praying that everyone gets there BFP this time and a healthy baby in the end :)

All,
So I went this morning for a blood test thinking my cycle is not on track because I was pregnant. No such luck. I'll definately be starting in December. Maybe this will be a really good xmas present.

I was just wondering if you have spoken with you doctor about ICSI. I dont know much about it except for all the reading I am doing. But while its usually for male infertility, it does perhaps help with endo. Anyhow just a thought...i am going to ask my doctor about it at my appt in a week.

We will be attempting ICSI with this cycle of IVF.  The clinic we were going to before had a different way of assesing a seman sample and told us that it was a little on the low side but it would be fine.  Well come to find out my dh only has 1-2% normal morphology, they would like to see it at 14%.  My dh just has to have a consult with a urologist so that the ICSI will be covered by our insurance.  What I had wasn't endometriosis, it was endometreitis- it's an infection like PID (pelvic inflamitory disease).  I had no symptoms, no idea I had it unitl they did an endometrial biopsy- the treatment was 10 days of antibiotics for both me and dh (because the infection can be passed back and fourth without knowing) and when I had another biopsy the infection was gone.  But if you can imagine, if there is an infection in your uterus there is no way your body is going to let a baby grow there- it's a hostile environment.  My new doc believes that the infection is why my last two IVF's didn't work, the embryo's we put back were pretty much perfect so it should have worked.  Looking forward to this cycle, but I'm also nervous because some of the meds are different and so I don't know how I'll respond to them.  I will be starting my birth control pills in December and I should be having retrival and transfer by mid January.  My new doctor also wants me to be off my feet from day of transfer until day 7 (if 3 day tran. than 4 days off of my feet, if 5 day tran than 2 days) my other doctors office said to take it easy the day of transfer and then back to reg activity the next day.  My new doctors office also gives some light sedation for embryo transfer to help the muscles relax, and you have to rest for 2 hours after the transfer is completed- the other office was do the transfer and rest for 20 min.  What's the protocall at the clinic you go to?  Sorry this is so long but like a lot of women on here, I don't know anyone who has gone through what my husband and I have so we really don't have anyone who can truely "understand".  Hope this will be the last cycle you will need, and me too.  Have a great night!

Sounds like you are on the right track though and its great that your new doc seems to take you a little mosre personally. I think ICSI is a great procedure and you would benefit from it.

Good luck to you and I really hope this is your last go -  resulting in a happy and healthy bub.

I am also an Andrea and I just had an appointment with my RE today.  If I get my AF, which it looks like I will, I will be put on BCP in December and IVF in January.  It is my first IVF and I am nervous!  I respond really well to Follistim but the issues are male factor so the RE has suggested ICSI along with IVF.  I am also seriously considering PGD.  So I am hoping in January we will be ready to go!  I would love to stay in touch...

Hi!  I'd like to join in with the Dec/Jan gals!  My first IVF cycle was cancelled mid November after my doc lowered my meds because I was responding so well.  He tried to slow it down a bit and my E2 bottomed out...so we decided to cancel rather than risk  poor quality eggs.  So, I'm now waiting on AF and then I start BCP, with Lupron starting on/around 12/26 and ER mid JAN!  I'm psyched and ready to go!!  I was disappointed with the cancellation, but at least I was cancelled before I had to take those PIO shots!  My hubby was disappointed though....I was really looking forward to giving me those shots!  : )

I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving. I spent it with family. I am so impatient, I cannot wait until Jan. I just hope my follie count is higher this time around, I'll find out if the DHEA really works.  Andrea

We've been trying for 3 years.  I was on Clomid for a year, with about 6 months of u/s's and trigger shots, and then 4 failed IUI's.  Took a break for about 10 months.  We started back in Oct. and were told we'd have to go straight to IVF.  We have male factor.  We started our first IVF cycle in October, but it was cancelled 5 days before ER due to low E2.  My meds were going great and I was responding great, so the doc lowered my meds and then my E2 bottomed out, so we had to cancel!!  Anyway, I'm waiting on AF and then we will start again in Dec.  I'm supposed to start Lupron 12/26.  I'm calling the RE tomorrow as AF still hasn't started and it's been over 2 weeks since I stopped Lupron and other meds.  So, I'm sure they'll call in Provera for me.  I'm ready to get started again.  I was getting good at giving myself shots...and then we had to stop ; (

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday!

I will be calling the IVF Coordinator at my Dr.'s office today to set up my next plan. I have already been on B/C for approx. 2 weeks. Last time I spoke with her she said FET will be set up on approx. 01/15/09. SUPER EXCITED! Will anyone else be close to this date?

Good Luck to ALL!!

As long as af shows up, I think I will be doing retrival and transfer around the middle of January.  I am still, of course, holding out home that af won't come.  I usually have sore bbs from the time I ovulate and this month I didn't have anything until just the other day- I woke up and holy cow!  I know it is also pms symptoms but I can't help but hope.  Wouldn't that be the PERFECT Chrismas gift...........  Af is due sometime this week (I have anywhere from a 21-28 day cycle) so I will just have to wait and see.

Hope you all had an AMAZING holiday and keeping my fingers crossed for BFP's for us all!

Hi Guys

I start my down reg cycle hopefully next week so I suspect i am a mid Jan girl too for the transfer. This will be my very first IVF and I am so very nervous. I have had 2 failed pregancies followed by 3 failed IUIs.

Out of interest have any of you decided how many embies you will transfer?

My last RE would only transfer two because of my age (28) but my new RE reccomends 3 but no more than four.  When I got all of my information about they way they do an IVF cycle, they said that the best chance to get pregnant with one baby is to transfer 3.  I hope this helps- you can check out their website, they are in the top 5% for reproductive medicine in the US (voted by their own peers) so they def. know what they are talking about.  The site is www . fertilitycenter. com.  I hope this helps.  My dh and I will most likely put back the reccomended three- I think four would make me a little nervous......but then again it would only increase my chances.  I guess I'll just have to wait for transfer day to make that choice.  Good Luck!
