Concerned

Does my "Soon to Be Husband" have to come to the Fertility clinic with me. I go on Monday (i'm so happy to finally see why I haven't gotten pregnant in 3 years.Yet i am nervous....... I wonder will it be expensive or is there something that can't be fixed by simply helping me track my ovulation .

BUT HERE IS MY QUESTION: MY GUY HATES DOCTORS AND HE WANTS A CHILD WORST THAN I DO. BUT HE WON'T GO TO A FERTILITY DOCTOR ...... SO I AM GOING TO SNEAK AND GO!!!!!!!!! DO YOU THINK THAT WOULD BE AN ISSUE WITH THE DOCTOR

I would definitely take your soon to be hubby with you or a close friend of something.  Two sets of ears are so much better than one.  At the very least take a notebook or something to write answers to your questions on etc.  I have been through ivf and tubal reversal.  Everything when you talk about fertility is expensive.  However all of our hopes and dreams have $ involved.  Everything takes time and just to start the ball rolling with fertility could mean days or months ahead with all of the testing that is done.  You will learn to count days from cycle or from ovulation etc... for me its not 30 or 31 days in a month any more, its more like hey honey today is day 11 or guess what its day 14 lets ttc etc.. ;) good luck to you .

My RE wouldn't see me with out at least meeting my Hubby first. He also is a little odd though :) Nice but weird. Anyhoo I think it would depend on how your Dr. feels. Alot of women trying to concieve don't have a spouse, or even a steady boyfriend. And yes it is very expensive, even with insurance. My Doc. has ordered a test called an after intercourse swab, sounds gross but what they do is swab your cervix the morning after BD'ing and they count the surviving sperm which would be the "healthy" sperm cuz they are still alive, and motale. He said that if that comes back with normal results a s/a is not needed. He wouldn't have to be there for that and the Dr. said it is alot cheaper than a s/a. My Doc. has his own lab though, some don't. I wish you the best of luck! I sent you a friend rtequest so u can keep me posted, I just started seeing my RE Aug.31. So we will kinda be goin through stuff together for the first time! :)

Hey, I agree with what you are saying..... But he has a child already..... SO i think it's me. I'm sad but hey I just have to roll with the flow. If they have to give me a shot to help me get pregnant will it be expensive.

Hi sexykae_123,

Your husband may be the reason why you haven't gotten pregnant. Has he had his semen checked for number of sperm, motility, etc.?

The doctor will probably meet with you alone initially. But, he or she will probably urge you and your soon-to-be-husband to attend your consultations together. He or she will also tell you the type of tests they may order for you. Then, they'll want your husband to provide a semen sample and have a blood draw to check for any problems.

Good luck with your first appt. I'm sorry your future husband hates doctors. And frankly, it's us women who have to endure the most doctor appointments and tests during our fertility problems! All he has to contribute is some semen, probably one blood draw, and lots of compassion and support for you.
