First IUI... a little nervous

I'm 28 and have been TTC for 2 years now and just started my first IUI process.  At first it was just a morpology issue with my husband, then after I was tested for EVERYTHING, it turned out I didn't have enough eggs someone my age should have. We skipped the colmid and went straight to injectables. I had my second blood test/ultrasound today and had 2 mature follicles and my lining is at 10mm. I'm SUPER nervous, it seems like everyone around me is getting pregnant and I just want a baby... Advice or words of wisdom?

I just started my injectables sunday. I am on gonal f. I will be your partner through this if u would like one. this is my 4th iui. so far two of them have worked but i lost both of those babies. Like u  i tried for 2 and 1/2 years then had surgery for endo. we got prego natural the first time but lost it at 12 wks. that is when we went to iui. It worked first time ( carried baby to 10 wks). didnt work 2 nd time ( i was sick ). third time it worked  but i lost it at 6 weeks. I had to have another suregry for my endo. It had come back.  Now we are doing it a 4 th time. I wouldnt do it if i didnt think it owuld work.

What med are u on? I am on Gonal f and the ovadril. When is your iui schedual for?

Hey... This is a crazy process, it's so scary and nerve wrecking! I don't know why, but I thought this would be a lot easier. I'm the first of my friends to have trouble conceiving so its hard to talk to them, although they're supportive. I started Gonal F last Monday at 300, I had my first blood test/ultrasound Friday and was at 7mm and had one mature follicle on each side. Went back today for blood test/ultrasound was at 10mm and doc said I was developing nicely??? Just heard back a few hours ago from doc and I'm doing 2 more night of shots and then back Wednesday morning. Hoping to do the IUI Thursday or Friday.

This is my first time with anything like this, I have regular periods always have, they couldn't really find anything abnormal with me except my hormone levels were a little off and I didn't have as many eggs as a 28 year old should have. I was a little depressed when I heard that, but my doc is super sweet and said it's not a very big problem to have. IDK!?!?  My husband has a morphology problem and his mobility is a little on the low side.

I just want a baby! I don't want to have to do this again, but I know the chance of happening the first try is low! Trying to keep positive!

Hey. I am just a little ahead of you.

I am almost 27, and been trying to conceive for a year now. My OB diagnosed me with PCOS, after only blood work testing. Had an HSG and it was negative. Husband had SA and on th elower side of normal. Did 2 rounds of Clomid. First round numbers were good. SO we thought we had a chance. But no luck. 2nd round numbers were low, I had been really sick with a terrible UTI so wasnt to hopeful anyways. Well after that got referred to Fertility Speciaist. She did vaginal ultrasound and no PCOS. Husband did another SA and no changes. We started femara 2 tabs CD3-7, went for US on day 13 (monday 8/22) had multiple follices. 1 was 32mm and 1 was 22. We did IUI tuesday (8/23). now its 2 week waiting for us. IUI didnt hurt, but I have been cramping now. Dr says thats normal, and by reading multiple forums I learned that most women do have cramps for up to 5 days post iui. Good luck to you.

My husband calculated it we did get pregnant this time, baby is due fathers day. ow great would that be.

This is my 4th iui so i am hoping it works.


us showed that i had 3 on left at 1-11-and 2-12. Right 1-10.5 e2 was only 185 and re wants me back in tomorrow. I think it is too soon.  it is 350 per us so it makes me mad that he is bringing me back in this quick. i cant afford this. we have already spent 1700 on us and iui so far and 900 on meds so far.

it is worth it if it works. I think it will . I am sending prayers up and trusting God.
maybe we will all 3 get bfps this month.

rmmoye, i am fighting with my insurance. they are saying fertility treatemtns arent covered only diagnostics, but i am telling them, look i see 0 deductible, and 0% coinsurance unless out of network, then a $4000 deductible. I had to pay for my post med US, which was only $195, so it wasnt that bad. but the IUI was $385 :( which all in all is nothing compared to IVF, so lets hope this works!

Hey Ladies

I had iui this morning... very nervous. Sperm count was not as much as they would have like or it has been before. BUT, they kept telling me it only takes one! Easy for them to say. 2ww is in process, I don't know why I'm going to do with myself.

This was my first iui, I did injectables, had 2 follies on each side, biggest was at 24.
Didn't feel any pain during, but about an hour after I started getting bad cramps and they haven't stopped.

Insurance is a nightmare, I had my own insurance and they didn't cover anything for fertility, I had to switch to my husbands to get some help. Father's Day would be too sweet!

Just a couple days ahead of u. I can test as early as next saturday my dr says.  (HPT that is) My HCG is the the 7th. I was reading a different post and post wash the sperm count was 500,000. and they thought there was no help. And sure enough they got pregnant! Our count was 13 million post wash with 2the 2 large follies, and more smaller ones. I am getting through the 2ww by reading everyones posts! gotta stay busy some how
My cramps finally stopped 3dpiui. Now i just feel bloated. Keep in tough!! good luck

well this morning the 11 went down to a 10 but the two 12 were at 15. the one on the right didnt grow.  I will post the e 2 level when they call.


My insurance doesnt cover anything we are already 3000 in the whole and they might make me come back tomorrow or monday for another us.

Hi I am new to this & my hubby has a low sperm count the doc says  iui may be an option, if you wouldn't mind telling me about your experience it would be appreciated.

i am in houston tx

the whole iui process was simple. i did femara, to make sure i ovulated and made some nice follicles. i just so happened to have my ultrasound scheduled on cd13, and ended up ovulating that same day. so i went in for my ultra sound, the measure my follicles, and we scheduled iui for the next morning. went in the next morning, husband did his thing and left his sample. they do a sperm washing and get the best of the best of his sperm. this takes about an hour. then as soon as it was ready we went upstairs to mr fertility drs office, and you lay on the table like you are having a papsmear, and the insert the "boys" directly into you. they use a syring with a long thin catheter attached. it didnt hurt,. you lay there for about 20mins, then your done.
i looked at my husband and laughed and told him that was the best sex i have ever had, lol! i had to lighten the mood somehow :)

All:  Jmiller my dh joked that the re/dr got me prego and not him. He even said  dr should pay child support.

I go in for my iui on Tuesday  at noon.

I'm from Jersey...

This is my first iui... My husbands sperm count was 14mil the first two times they tested, but morphology was always off. I didn't have as many eggs for someone my age, so I skipped the colmid and went straight to gonal injectales... Did shot for about 10 days, then trigger shot on the 8/24 and iui on 8/26. I'm in the two week wait right now...


Trying to decide if I want to self test or wait until my blood test on 9/9???

My nurse said she wants me to test, atleast the morning of my apt like i said is 9/7. but i dont know if i can wait that late. I am thinking atleast by monday! I have been feeling really bloated and tired.

If u have to do this again  do waht we do: I go in the room with dh and we use it as a provacative (sp) moment.  It seems to help all the way around.

Good luck ladies. I usally test 13-14dpiui. test areound day 8piui to make sure trigger shot is out so u do not get a false +.

What were your linings measuring? mine was 7.8

Just wanted to share a success story with you about IUIs and Femara -- My husband & I had been TTC since 2/2/08 (our wedding date) and I was initially "unexplained."  Fast forward two & a 1/2 years later and I switched OB/GYNs.  She gave me 6 months of Clomid but all cycles failed (no miscarriages either though) so I was referred to a Fertility Specialist along w/my husband. He'd already had a SA but they took another one & I had some more tests run (had already had regular periods, HSG normal, & normal annual paps).  Found he had low count & morphology issues and I had higher than normal FSH level for my age (29 at the time).  Fertility specialist prescribed Femara and IUI & we had our first IUI on 3/29/11.  Husband's counts were low & morph issues and I was worried because I wasn't 100% sure we caught ovulation but we went through with it.  I was able to wait until 14 days past IUI to do a HPT and it was POSITIVE!  After more than 3 years (at that point) we were pregnant for the first time ever!  Everything has been just fine so far and we're due a week before Christmas.  I know it's probably not the way you ever envisioned getting pregnant but once it happens, I don't think it matters at all.  Please know that I have had friends on here that have to do IUIs several times for it to take but regardless, odds are your doctors will figure out what you need to do to get pregnant.  It's not guaranteed for everyone, I know, but hang in there girls...it's not an easy road but there are success stories and I pray there is one for each of you someday.  Please let me know if you have any questions and I'm looking forward to seeing BFPs for you!  --Kimberleigh

It is so nice to hear sucess stories. Like u my first iui worked. My second one failed, my 3rd one worked. but unfortuantlly both of those ended in mc. My first pregnancy was natural after 2 and 1/2 years of trying but it also ended in mc. They have found no reason for this. so we are doing a 4th iui and praying it works and that i carry it all the way and that its heart doesnt stop beating.

All: I did trigger last night at midnight and iui is tomorrow. I am excited about it.
I am thinking + and pray for u two.

I am glad u didnt get anything. We didnt get anything in GA either.

Ladies we would all be due in May if this cycle works. I would be due 22, MrsB143 18th and Jmiler since u test two days before  MrsB i am assuming u did your iui  on the 24th so i would be due on teh 16th of may.  I got this from babycenter due date predictor. sine we know dte of iui we know conception date. your conception day is consider 2 wks prego.

All: they did the iui today  dh's sperm count was 158 pre wash  and 79 post wash with 100modality. Yeah . tha tis a great sperm count. re said they hope for at least 5mil posst wash so we are excited.

I also learned they wash it because it has something called prostaglandins in it that can kill a women if it gets into her cervix.

Good luck everyone with your IUI cycles.

I did my first IUI/clomid cycle back in May and it did result in a bfp even though I only had one mature folicle. Unfortunately I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks. Now I am doing my 2nd IUI round with a higher dosage of clomid. I had the IUI yesterday. At my u/s on Friday I had 5 folicles (3 on the right and 2 on the left). My doctor is having me do a booster hcg shot so my beta is not scheduled until Sept. 19. That means I have a 3 week wait this time.

I hope everyone gets their BFPs. SSBD to you all!!!
