Genetic Testing

Hello! hope everyone is well! We had our bloodwork for recurrent miscarriages done today.. they took only one tube from my dh, and lots from me.. They testing me for clotting disorders etc.. and both of us for genetic/chromosome testing.. do yall know what they test as far as chromosomal and genetic factors? what are they looking for and if so what will they do about it? How long did it take yall to get the results back if you've had it done? thanks so much!

I went through a bunch of testing and wasn't allowed to try for three months. in those three months the dr ordered the testing including blood work for two back to back early term miscarriages.  I got the results of everything - including a sperm analysis - all at once so it's hard to say exactly how long it took.  they did find a clotting issue for me - c677t or something like that.  i was told to take baby aspirin and I went on to have a healthy pregnancy and healthy son.  I know others have to take shots for anti-clotting meds.  for me baby aspirin is enough to make a difference.  good luck!

Hey,
I have not had that done myself but we did discuss it and I was told that sometimes the Chromosones just don't match up and when that happens there is no treatment. They will either suggest an egg donor or sperm donor. The Dr won't test me for it because I still have my 3 Embryos and he doesn't want me to feel hopeless w/o trying them first. I truely hope you get some good news and that they find something they can fix. I think not knowing why is worse than knowing why. Are they testing you for NKC (Natural KIller Cells) as well?

they test for some chromosomal mutation in both of you, my RE said if the man has it, it causes 3 out of 4 pregnancies he creates to miscarry.  i don't know what they can do, but you will know why.  (i think they would suggest you go straight to ivf, so they can test before transfer, if i remember correctly).  we got back all the results within the week with the exception of the blood clotting test, which took a month (no kidding).
