Hello,
How exciting...my RE sent a bunch a paperwork to be filled out and sent back before our consultation, as well as a lot of useful information on fertility treatment and option,  for my husband and I to look at before our consultation. You will have your consultation with your RE and discuss your history and then your RE will discuss your options with you. Then you and your husband will start all kinds of preliminary screening tests such as bloodwork for both of you, uterine testing for you (ultrasound and HSG or saline sonogram), and semen analysis for your husband. Depending on your history and which path you want to take, your RE might want you to have additional testing done as well. Treatment usually doesn't begin until all of the tests have come back normal. If any of your tests come back abnormal (like mine did) then you have to correct certain things and usually take medication and re-test. My husband and I chose IVF and I needed to have a biopsy but it came back abnormal 2 times and then normal the 3rd time, but by that time we were going ahead with IVF regardless of the outcome of the biopsy, as decided by me and my husband and my RE.

I was really excited and nervous about my consultation also. If everything had come back normal with my testing, we would have started treatment 7 weeks after our consultation but everyone is different and so are doctors.

Remember to write down your questions so you don't forget to ask your RE anything and it wouldn't hurt to discuss what your options (IVF, IUI, etc.) might be, with your husband ahead of time. Do some research online and if you have any questions, ask your RE at the consultation.

Good luck and please keep me posted...
