Yeah, a SA (semen analysis) is usually one of the first tests they do, since it less expensive and much less invasive than many of the female tests. Plus it's good to get that determined first, in case the problem lies with him. Best of luck next week!!!

THANK YOU! I have already had a laparoscopy for a hemmoraghic cyst. But I hear from I may need bllod work/ HSG. My appt is about 1 day before AF is coming so I guess that is good timing. Do they test DH before they go too far with me?
Hi Jess! The first visit usually consists of just talking to the doctor about your situation. They'll ask you questions about your cycle and lifestyle and things like that. Mine also consisted of an internal exam and a consultation about costs and insurance coverage. The semen analysis and blood work were done at a later date. If you're appointment is around cycle day 3, I guess they might ask you to have some blood work done right away, but most probably, all of that will wait for your next cycle.
As for tests, it all depends on your situation. They might decide to monitor you for the first cycle (with ultrasound), to make sure you have a number of antral (resting) follicles in the beginning of the cycle, that one becomes the dominant follicle and matures, and that you ovulate on your own.
Good luck!
