My DH has counts similar to your DH. Were suppose to do our first IUI next month. I read some where that you need at least 5 million to do IUI. Good luck I hope you get answers soon :)
GOOD LUCK with your first apt! its exciting to get a new "plan of action!" : ) I imagine that they will recommend IUI, but of course can't be sure.. we have many issues (one ovary, severe endo, pcos, and male factor - morphology of only 2%) and my Re had us do three IUI's before IVF and we got preg on our third IUI! : ) (unfortuantely mc'd) but they say to do IUI you need at least 5% morphology, and we only had 2% so i'm a big fan of trying IUI before IVF with some situations! GOOD LUCK!
Just wanted to add that sometimes doctors retest to see if the low count was just a one-time thing or not. It might be fine next time he tests. Also, sometimes it helps to have a 3 day "rest" before the sperm sample is given (or before doing an IUI)...that way the little swimmers have a little extra time to accumulate :-) Good luck!
Mu husband about 6 years ago had a normal semen analysis so when he tested this time and it showed he had a low count he was very upset saying the test was wrong,so we are probably going to retest. It's reassuring to know that we could still do IUI. I am a little scared about doing IVF. I can't wait for our appt on Monday I am so stressed and anxious beyond control. My husband and I argue alot with the stress. We are going to try acupuncture to help infertility and reduce stress........
Yes, this stuff can be super stressful for sure! We just try to continue doing our "normal" things like getting outside and playing sports/activities together, getting together with friends etc... i've started yoga, which is good too! GOOD LUCK let us know how it goes!
