Clomid (Helen, ashort, rumsy and anyone else)

Just wanted thank you guys for your info on Clomid. I called my doctor and left a message this morning to see if he'll let me try it. Just got a call back from his nurse, who is soooo sweet! She's been helping me through my two miscarriages and has always been super nice to me. She said my doctor is out sick today, but hopes he'll be back tomorrow. She said she's going to ask him then and try to convince him to let me try it :-) So, hopefully he'll agree. I'll let you guys know what happens...

I do have one more question, though. I'm CD3 today, so will I still be able to try it this month if he gives me a prescription tomorrow or the next day?

Thanks for sharing, Sam! That's great that you've been able to get a BFP on clomid twice already! I hope it will work for you again soon!!!

Ashort, my doctor prescribed the 50 mg. pills. I'm very excited about trying something new this month. Hopefully it'll work :-)

Thanks, jenandjon and Sam! My doctor gave me two refills after this month, and said to start CD 5 all three months. We'll see how it affects this cycle...I'll definitely keep you guys posted!

Oh, and Sam, you've conceived using clomid before, right? Did you ovulate on your own before starting clomid?

Tina1111 - thanks for that info on the timing difference between starting on day 3 and starting on day 5

I did find some info that a research study showed that more women BFP starting on day 3 than on day 5.

On pre-seed, if you go to their internet site you can locate a store near you that carries it.  A fertility acupuncturist carries it near me.  BTW - anybody on here use acupuncture to treat infertility?

Heather 5:  Keep us posted as to how Clomid affects your cycle.  Did Dr. say start day 5 for all cycles?

Glad you got it!
I typically O around cd13 but with clomid I did not get LH surge till cd14-15.  LP was also longer.  At first I thought I may be pregnant since AF was few days late but then I realized that it was clomid.

Good luck!

Well....I did get it today! They called in a prescription for me this morning, so I just took my first pill today on CD 5 :-) Yay! I really hope it will help me produce a nice, strong eggie this month (or perhaps a couple)!

I've heard some of you on here say that clomid delayed your ovulation. I'm wondering if that will happen to me, since I normally ovulate pretty early (CD12 or 13), and I won't finish my clomid pills until CD9. Any thoughts?

Hang in there.  You can start Clomid on cycle day 5.  I've even heard it started as late as cycle day 7.  But, hopefully, you'll get yours on cd 5.  Good luck!

Well, my doctor is still out sick, so I guess I'll have to check back again tomorrow... If he's still out tomorrow, I'll probably have to wait until next month, since I'm CD 4 today.

Hi sibs! Pre-seed is a sperm-friendly lubricant. I bought mine over the Internet :-)

Still haven't heard back from my doctor's office. I'll probably call and check in a couple of hours...unless they call me first.

Thank you guys for all the great information! I already have some pre-seed (tried is this past cycle, and still have four left), so I'll definitely use it again this month :-) I'll let you  know what my doctor says tomorrow...if he's back in the office.

Thanks again! And best of luck to all of you...whether you're in the 2WW or getting ready for your next O!!!

I have been on a dozen or more cycles of clomid, both 50 and 100mg for 5 days and no luck.  My doctor upped it to 10 days (starting day 3) and it did the trick.  I am almost 6 weeks!  If the 5 days doesn't work, ask if you can take for 10, especially if you O late in your cycle, that was my problem, I O'd around day 18 or 19 on the 5 days of Clomid, on 10 days, it was day 14.  Good luck to everyone!

The first month I took clomid it was days 5-9.  The second month was days 3-7.  So 5-9 is fine.  That month I actually had more follicles then the month I took it 3-7.  I would also recommend the preseed.  I used it this month...it's a little gross but not too bad.  Good luck...let us know how it goes!

Also, clomid may decrease your EWCM so many people use preseed with it.  I always have lots of cm but definitely mentioned less cm even around O time when taking clomid.
Again, I hope it helps!

My dr differs according to age and whether or not you o on your own. If you o on your own and are infertile, he does either cd2 or 3 for a start time. If you don't o, he does cd5-9. The reasoning behind it is if you do the earlier route, it creates more follicles and the release of more than one egg to increase the odds of conception. The later gives better odds of o'ing if you don't and better quality of eggs. Also, I see a lot of women take 50mg and still not o. My dr won't rx less than 100mg. But, an unfortunate s/e is cysts. The stimulation is notorious for them. I did get pg on my 2nd round, but had a chemical. I hope you get it and get a 1st round bfp!!!

Healther,
typically you start your first clomid pill on cd3-5.   So, you'll be OK starting tomorrow or even the day after.

I hope it works for you!!!!

I started out taking it CD5-9, then moved to CD4-8.  So you can still make it for this cycle.
Good Luck
