Varicosele

Hi,
Am wonering if a left Varicosele will cause me to fail a medical for joining the Army? I have had it for as long as i can remember and it causes no pain whatsoever.

I didn't know what to post this under so I went with the above.

Please help

Thankyou both for your comments you have really set my mind at ease esspecially now I know your husband was ok cminamyer. I have booked a doctors appointment just to varify everything else is ok and hopefully I'll be off to Sandhurst in September =)

No a vericosele won't cause you to not be able to join the army.  My husband is active duty navy and it was not an issue.  The only issue that a vericosele usually causes is low sperm count and it might be difficult for you have children.  Vericosele's are actually very common and aren't a health risk, plus they won't do that close of a physical.  Good luck in the army.

I would make an appointment with a urologist. If it doesn't call you pain you should be fine. I would definatly call the urologist though. Good Luck :)

Its just a little bit of a worry for me as I've wanted to do this since I was a little boy and would be devistated if that stopped me!

I dont think it should cause you not to get into the army. There is a surgery to correct the Varicocele also. Good luck :)
