Unprotected sex for years but why am I not pregnant?

Hello.

I've been thinking about this probably too much.

Here's my story.

I met my soon-to-be husband (July 18th, 2008) on July 18th, 2000. I lost my virginity at 16 and he did as well. We used condoms and I started on the pill a few months after losing my virginity. After being together for two years, we stopped using condoms. A little while after that, I stopped using the Pill.

Since the age of 18, he has been ejaculating inside of me sometimes 1-3 times a week. I am 23 now, almost 24.

Not being on the pill, not using condoms, and having a half sister with endometriosis that almost died giving birth to her 2 lb daughter and having a grandma on my dad's side with ovarian cancer, should I finally get checked out to see if it's me?

Could it be him?

I am not a drug user and neither is he. I used to drink pretty hard when I was 21-22 but that's about the extent of any ill behavior. My periods generally come and go as they please and last for three days (four at the most) and are extremely heavy. It seems the date of getting my period ends up 3-5 days before I expect it.

I've always been stubborn about seeing the doctor because I am so afraid of knowing the truth. I will see the doctor very soon but I just wanted to see if any of you had any advice or the same dilemma.

Is this normal or not? Please let me know. I just wanted to get this out in between wedding planning and school work.

If you are concerned and want to conceive, I would go see a reproductive endocrinologist.   Ask about and HSG (a dye test for your tubes).. And even they don't know all the answers.. BUT w/endometriosis, you can usually get a lap done and it can improve your chances.  Good luck!

my husband and i have been trying for five years to get pregnant, i am now 26.  i have had the fertility workup done and my husband had the semen anaylsis done.  all came back well, showing no problems except that i have low estergon.  you do need to go see your gyno and she will run bloodwork on the third day of your cycle to see what your levels are.  some women have problems ovulating, while other have blocked tubes. in my case i just have unexplained fertility.  with your sister having endom, there could be a chance you might as well.

have you tried timing your cycles?  try buying the ovulation kit, to see if you ovulate.  you also should have you soon to be husband get a semen anaylsis done.  there may be a problem with his sperm.

your gyno may refer you to see a RE since its been so long and you havent gotten pregnant.  you may need help stimulating your ovaries and iui's may need to be done.

hope this helped a little

good luck with everything and congrats on the wedding.
