When do you do it?

I apologise in advance as I know this must seem like a weird question but I am wondering how many times you "do it"(have sex). :)

Do you start on day 10, 11, 12 etc. how many times a day etc.

I am going a bit insane. We have tried starting day 10, then day 12 and then every second day. Then next cycle every day from day 11 or so till day 16. Then next cycle tried only one day before ovulation, on the day and the day after.
I am getting tired just writting about it. :))

How many times do you do it and when?

I have heard that there's no use checking your CM for 24hrs after "doing the dance", so how can you tell by using this method as I'm pretty desperate and have started on cd10 and am going everyday through til cd18 at least! Which means I can't monitor my CM. I don't really want to waste time doing all this research, I just want to conceive!! I don't know anything at all about conceiving and how to check 'ferning', CM, or any of what you guys have mentioned.. Any easy, 'no fail' tips??? :)

I really recommend checking out the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility, as mentioned above.  It will tell you everything you need to know about CM, checking it and what consistency means what.  You can also try googling it.  There are some good websites out there with photos and everything.

But to simplfy everything you are looking for egg white cervical mucuos EWCM.  It literally is the consistency of egg whites when you stretch it between your finger and thumb.  That is your most fertile period and the best medium for the swimmers to get the job done.

yes I am finding the saliva test bad too.At the moment that is saying I should be ovulating but the urine says no. weird.

i dont trust my cm its everywere some ppl no what there own cm means e.g when i ov bout 2 days later i get white cm and day before af the same x
someone elses cm reactions might be opposite to yours x

okay.... i'm still confused reading all this. To know when to do it, you have to check CM?? CERVICAL MUCUS? right?? then what.. when its watery ur ovulating?? or what?? so confused??? trying to conceive...

I follow the cm and the LH and nothing has happened so far. Well tried for almost 2 years with my first boy before we went with IUI and IVF. Now we are trying for 2nd child but only my 2nd cycle trying.

All my frustration from last time trying has come straight back though so if nothing happens going for IVF in 4 months. I have endometriosis too.

How long have you been trying?

i couldnt follow my cm as i get it 2 days after surge everyone is totally dofferent i think it is crazy i do no some ppl dont do opk but they work for me.and i no some ppl say to bed everyother day but i feel the more the better and my doc sed it also but like yoga chick says everyone is different

If it helps, my RE recommended following the CM, not the OPK.  RE also recommends bding every other day

I've have u/s and blood drawn every day leading up to ovulation for the last few cycles.   Through that process, I've noticed I get a lot of EWCM for about 3 days before my LH surge (which happens 30-something hours before ovulation).  Everyone is different but thought that bit of info might help too...

its hard but we use sperm freindly lube makes i a bit easier it hasnt worked for me yet lol but i dont have to do it that much now as use opk i also have to do it now to monitor my pcos x


and dont get me started on the people that just decide to get preg and then they are its so unfair but the way isee it is when it comes i will be more gratful and stronger x

Hannah- OMG how do you keep it up from day 11 to 21. I have always done it till day 16 or so (at least 2 days past ovulation) at the most. Maybe that is why we haven't gotten lucky yet.

It is so strange how some people just think of it and get pregnant and others can stand on their heads, do it twice a day and nothing still happens.

Oh well at least we can have fun trying. :)

i use opks and do it for 4 days from when i get my plus but i do try to do it from cd 11so i do it day before my +opk if i wasnt using them i would do it from cd11 to cd 21 easy i do find it hard to kee going but i have to lol we try do it at least twice a day but i no that isnt always best x

I hope you did the dance when you had the cm.  Even if you ovulate 2 days later - good mucus can keep the sperm ready to go.

I have noticed that I had lots CM yesterday on day 14 and after 3 ovulation urine tests  all showed no LH surge.

I find from experience that its best to time your bbd ( sex) according to your cervical fluid, not just +opk's.  Fertile cervical fluid helps the sperm move toward the uterus and keeps them alive while your body waits to ovulate.  Sometimes fertile CM does not always coordinate with ovulation sticks.
It took me a while to figure out when my cervical fluid was most fertile, but when I did, I got a BFP.  It worked better then the ovulation sticks.
