Hiatal Hernia Surgery

Hello I am scheduled for surgery on march 24th 2010  & im scared !!! Just wondering if anyone has anything good to say about after the surgery ! Or if anyone has any advice for after the surgery that would be nice !!! Thanks

I, too, posted about this surgery.  I am scheduled to have it done this month.  After going on this site, I am not so sure I am going to do this surgery!!  There are alternatives (according to people on here and other research) that sound much better.  One is a partial Nissen that has a lot less complications afterwards.  REALLY talk to your doctor about this, and look at this forum and get all the negatives and positives and take them to your doctor to show him what you found.

HI...I have not had this surgery and from what others have said about it I hope ur dr advised u in advance of the issues u will have afterward.....many post they were unaware they would not be able to vomit even tho they have the flu and feel sick.....also that the Nissen can slip...need to be redone and several have had a re occurrence of the same symptoms that had prior to surgery...u can use the search this community to get to older threads on this topic.

.I do not  know ur history or how bad ur symptoms were to select surgery as an option....but I have heard many good things that a chiropractor can manipulate the hernia lower as to aleave many of the issues without surgical intervention....U need to decide with all the facts and I am sure u were offered  all of them.

I also have a hiatal hernia and understand ur fears.....I pray this all works for u.
